German Minister for Family Affairs argues in favor of same-sex with reasoning applicable to Polygamy
This article reports on the german family minister Kristina Schröder arguing in favor of full equality for same-sex unions with arguments that could equally be applied to Polyamory and Polygamy.
Federal Family Minister Schröder welcomed the proposal of some Members of her conservative party, the CDU, that homosexual partnerships should get fiscal equality with marriage. This would in fact still fall short of a ruling of the german constitutional court that has actually ruled thatcivil unions should get full equality in all aspects, but german politicians have not delivered. Mrs. Schröders reasoning sounded like arguments that I have put forth here before and which could also be applied to Polyamory and Polygamy.
According to the “Tagesschau “on August 8th 2012 Mrs. Schröder said: ‘People in lesbian and gay civil unions want to permanently take responsibility for one another, “. She added: “This means they live conservative values.”
Mrs. Schröder orients herself probably on reasoning that has been used by British Prime Minister David Cameron (german article), but she really should start reading my website, because: This is what people in multiple relationships want too – take permanent responsibility for each other – as I have already argued several times: The CDU could support polygamy and remain conservative. (german article, but Google translate is implemented in the sidebar on the right)
As Obama has gone forward in supporting same-sex marriage, now Kristina Schröder and Angela Merkel should go forward and make Germany a truly modern country.
